This is my first newsletter. You are getting it because at some point you've attended one of my creative writing courses, or you've used my Writing Clinic service, or maybe you've made an enquiry, which is why I have your email. If you would rather not receive these newsletters you can unsubscribe at the bottom of the newsletter.
I'm excited about the launch of my new website - www.writingclinic.co.uk - which gives information about the mentoring and manuscript appraisal service I offer, the weekly classes, one off workshops, and the novel support groups that I run.
There is also a Resources page with articles about the technical aspects of writing: Characterisation, Plot, Point of View, Narrative Time and Scene and Summary . You can download a PDF of these, and I will keep adding to them.
I am planning to send an irregular newsletter only when I have something useful to say, and in any case not more than once a month. I may include links to interesting articles, or competitions, perhaps information about the current state of publishing, book reviews or anything else that might be of interest to writers. Here are a couple of examples: one from the Huffington Post on the current choices there are in publishing, and a very good article from The Atlantic on tightening your prose to give it maximum impact. And a new international writing competition.
Please take a look at my website and let me know what you think. If you're still writing I hope it's going well. I'm always delighted to hear from people I've worked with, so please do let me know how you're getting on. You can reply to this or contact me through my website or email me at umi@writingclinic.co.uk
Writing Clinic also has a Facebook page where I post things of interest to writers.
